Hokitika’s most iconic local bakery deserved a kick-ass website that reflected exactly what makes it special... warm, welcoming, full of personality, and easy to find when people are searching for a great place to eat.
Stone Oven Bakery & Café is a true local favourite, loved by locals and visitors for its classic bakery food, great coffee, quality meals, gelato, and relaxed West Coast atmosphere.
With so many tourists passing through Hokitika and searching from their phone for somewhere to stop, the website needed to be built around real customer behaviour. Quick menus, clear opening hours, easy location details, and simple navigation were key.
This was not just about creating a website that looked good. It was about creating a mobile-first experience that helped people quickly decide where to grab a bite, enjoy a proper meal, or find a bloody decent coffee while passing through town.

What We Built
We created a fresh Squarespace website with a mobile-first structure, designed around the way people actually search for places to eat in Hokitika.
The site makes it easy to view all there menus, while also showcasing Stone Oven’s classic kiwi bakery favourites and wider offering across catering, custom cakes, group bookings, and private functions.
Strong local search terms, SEO-focused copywriting, image optimisation, clear page structure, and simple calls to action were worked through across the site to help improve search visibility and create a better experience for people browsing from mobile.
the final result is mobile-first, SEO-conscious, easy to navigate, and built around real customer behaviour. A well-loved Hokitika business now has a website that better reflects the experience customers already know and love.
