The New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators

Branding | Graphic Design | Website Design

The New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators, NZGAJC, has a long-standing role in supporting and connecting professionals working across agricultural journalism and communication in New Zealand.

For this project, we worked with the Guild to deliver both a brand refresh and a new Squarespace website, creating a more modern and cohesive presence that better reflects who they are today and where they are heading in the future.

The Goal

The Guild needed a refreshed identity and website that felt more professional, current, and aligned with the New Zealand primary industries.

The goal was to create a brand and online presence that would:

  • better represent the Guild’s purpose and future direction

  • feel credible, grounded, and connected to the land

  • support membership growth and communication

  • create a clearer home for awards, events, and industry updates

  • improve the website experience for both current and prospective members

  • bring the Guild’s visual identity and website into stronger alignment

Our Approach

We started with a brand strategy session to better understand the Guild, its history, the meaning behind the existing identity, and its vision for the future.

From there, we developed a refreshed brand identity that kept the organisation’s values at the core while creating a more versatile and modern visual direction.

One of the most important parts of the rebrand was moving away from the existing tiki/Rongo mark, while still respecting the meaning behind it. The new harakeke-inspired logo direction created a stronger connection to the land, growth, storytelling, and New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.

Alongside the branding work, we also designed and built a modern, user-friendly Squarespace website that tied together the Guild’s brand, membership information, awards, events, and wider purpose in one clear online home.

Brand Identity & Website Design

The new brand identity was designed to feel credible, professional, grounded and connected to the land, while giving the Guild a more modern presence without losing its roots.

From the refreshed logo and colour palette through to the typography, each element was chosen to reflect the Guild today, while supporting where it is heading in the future. The result is a brand that feels more polished, cohesive and purposeful, giving the Guild a stronger foundation across its website, membership touchpoints, awards, events and wider communications.

Alongside the brand identity, we also designed a new website with a focus on simplicity, clarity and usability.

The goal was to make it easier for visitors to understand who the Guild is, what it offers and how to engage with it. This included bringing together key information around membership, awards, events and news into a clearer and more accessible format.

The finished project gave NZGAJC a refreshed brand and website that feel more aligned with the organisation’s purpose, members and future direction. Together, the new identity and website create a stronger platform for the Guild to communicate its value, support its members and continue evolving within New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.
